Ingredients

  • - 1 pound ziti pasta
  • - 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • - 2 cups marinara sauce
  • - 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • - 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • - 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • - 2 large eggs
  • - 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • - 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • - 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • - 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • - Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 11. Preheat oven to 375°F. Generously butter a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. 22. Boil ziti in salted water until al dente, about 8-9 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. 33. Brown Italian sausage in large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking into small crumbles until fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.
  4. 44. In large mixing bowl, combine ricotta, eggs, minced garlic, chopped basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly.
  5. 55. Layer pasta in baking dish: spread thin layer of marinara, add half the ziti, sprinkle half the sausage, spread ricotta mixture, top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
